127 Hours by Szyman Fischer
I chose this as my design example because I find the overall design/concept very clever. In the movie, James Franco's character looses his arm after it gets trapped and he cuts it off scaling a canyon wall. It's ironic the artist made the wall in the shape of his arm. T believe the purpose of the design is to foreshadow the fate of James Franco's hiker.
The design appeared as movie poster/promotional piece.
I believe the communication objective of the design is to peak the understanding of those who have seen the movie and peak the curiosity of those who have not. The sender of the message is Szyman Fischer who designed the poster in a way that those who have seen the movie will get the irony of him climbing up hand shaped wall. The intended audience is those who have seen the movie or would like to.
Stage 1: Brainstorm a concept: The artist probably had seen the movie therefore came up with this idea.
Stage 2: Sketch: After coming up with the concept, the artist probably sketched a rough draft of what the layout and design could have looked liked.
Stage 3: Digitize: The next step, he probably digitized the sketch either using illustrator of photoshop
Stage 4: Final Draft: After putting into the software, he probably did a few drafts until he reached the final concept you see now.
